Support

Together with other Designated Inuit Organizations and government partners IHT has committed to bringing the heritage collections home to Nunavut. A plan is in the works to create spaces and capacities in Iqaluit and communities across the territory for exhibitions and cultural programs. The momentum is building. We would welcome a conversation about the role you, your foundation or company can play in making this dream a reality.

A capital campaign will launch later this year with an ambitious target of between $50-$75 million. Every contribution to the campaign is a significant one. While Nunavut encompasses one fifth of Canada’s land mass, the population is under 40,000. We need support from Canadians throughout the country as well as international donors to make this dream a reality.

Your support of the Nunavut Inuit Heritage Centre will enable us to:

Build a unique Inuit-led facility that gives Inuit access to our cultural belongings on our land
Provide Category A museum environment controls necessary to preserve the collection
Expand the collection through repatriation, donations and purchases
Develop cultural programming to support the continuity of Inuit culture and language
Provide a welcoming environment with exhibitions and programs for all visitors, in the spirit of reconciliation
Diversify revenue streams to strengthen financial sustainability
Establish an endowment for future operations.

IHT is in the process of securing qualified donee status to enable us to issue tax receipts for donations. Follow this page for news of how to donate.

Exciting opportunities are on the horizon. You can be a part of them! If you are interested in finding out more about the possibilities, please contact us at campaign@ihti.ca.
